Application Procedure
The application period for the 2008 year has ended
If you have completed any pre-psychology preparatory courses at an institution other than UCLA (including a Junior College, UCLA Extension, etc.) it is your responsibility to submit those transcripts to the UCLA Admissions Office so that they may post to your record (DPR) by the application deadline (it can take up to 2-3 months to post). If you have completed one year of high school chemistry with a C or better, you must submit a copy of your transcript (unofficial copy is acceptable) to the Psychology Undergraduate Advising Office, 1531 Franz Hall, to get exempt from the pre-psychology Chemistry requirement before you submit your application.
Qualifications
Students who have completed all nine of the Psychology prep-for-major courses must submit an application by the spring quarter of their second year at UCLA (sophomore year). For the 2009 application cycle, extensions to complete coursework by the end of Summer 2009 will be reviewed. Admission into the major will be based on a student’s academic performance in the preparation for major courses. Students must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA in the preparatory coursework to be eligible to apply. Students who have a 2.9 or higher preparation for major GPA and have met all other pre-psychology requirements will be GUARANTEED entry into the major. Students with guaranteed admission are still required to submit an application by the application deadline. Students with a prep GPA ranging between 2.5-2.89 will enter a competitive applicant pool.
