Computer Setup/Configuration

We can configure your computer for use on the network and install our set of standard applications.

If you have a new or re-purposed computer that needs to be setup please log a help desk request indicating that.  The help desk can handle most "break/fix" or "upgrade/enhance" issues.

If your computer or printer needs internal hardware to be replaced or upgraded this can usually be handled by Technical Services.  You can go to them directly or we will help facilitate your request through our help desk.

When purchasing computers you can usually get the best deal from KST .  Make sure you use their customer login by selecting "UCLA Institutional Purchases."  Let us know if you need the account credentials.  The ASUCLA student store is the best place for you to purchase Apple computers and you must login there with your UCLA login ID in order to see prices.

 

What to do with old hardware and software

Old CDs andDVDs can be taken to Software Central for recycling.  Obsolete hardware can be taken to Technical Services for proper disposal.
