VPN
Virtual Private Network
If you need to access a departmental server or system from off-campus you may need to use a VPN in order to do that. System administrators may allow individuals who have a valid UCLA login ID and password to connect to their servers via the campus VPN:
http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/vpn/
Along with the VPN a valid UCLA login ID is necessary. Please see the section on “eligibility” here:
http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/accounts/info/create.html
Any special requests for access to or extension of UCLA login privileges must be addressed with the Bruin On Line office.
If this method of connection is unacceptable or unusable for your situation, Psych IT can help system admins set up a computer with remote desktop access from which the admin may control access to their servers. In the case of the FUNC server(s) this is preferred over using some other VPN (like Life Sciences). Access agreements are not known or monitored by Psych IT or Life Sciences Computing and therefore, we cannot assure continued or appropriate access to research data.
