Academic Coordinator I Position
The UCLA Department of Psychology announces an Academic Coordinator I position, working as the instructional coordinator of the Applied Developmental Psychology (ADP) Program.
SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Academic Coordinator I (title code: 0843) will serve as the instructional coordinator of the Applied Developmental Psychology (ADP) Program. Duties of the ADP instructional coordinator include teaching courses in the Applied Developmental Psychology minor (courses will be determined based on Departmental need but will include Psychology 134A/D; Psychology 134B/E; and Psychology 134C); maintaining consistency in the teaching aspects of the ADP minor and directing students’ research within the minor. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the ADP instructional coordinator will determine admissions policies for the selection of student participants; coordinate and manage the student intern selection process; cultivate internship placement sites for student trainees and develop future training sites. The ADP instructional coordinator will regularly monitor internship sites to ensure quality.
INSTRUCTIONAL/PROGRAM COORDINATION (75%)
- Prepare lectures and course syllabi for courses required for the ADP minor. Courses will be assigned based on Department need.
- Write and grade course exams; prepare study questions.
- Evaluate students’ written assignments; provide feedback.
- Coordinate evaluation process for ADP minor interns. Provide continuous supervision for students’ fieldwork component.
- Coordinate students’ fieldwork experience both on-site and off-site (i.e. scheduling, training).
- Coordinate use of teaching materials (i.e. readings, AV equipment).
- Supervise graduate student teaching assistants.
- In consultation with IDP Director, review and propose changes and additions to the ADP minor course offerings.
- Evaluate current fieldwork sites and propose new ones, which may include site visitation.
- Research and procure funding opportunities for ADP minor students.
PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION (25%)
- In conjunction with the Executive Director, coordinate and manage selection process for ADP minor interns.
- In conjunction with the Executive Director, maintain and update student intern files.
- Supervise student interns based in Franz and Fernald Infant Development Program (IDP) sites.
- Participate as a member of the ADP Minor departmental committee.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a Master’s Degree or equivalent in child development or early childhood education. Demonstrated understanding and implementation of classroom leadership models; supervision of student interns/volunteers. Experience teaching principles and practices in the childcare field at the community college or university level; demonstrated understanding of basic research techniques and theories in childcare.
TYPE OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Supervision provided by the Executive Director of IDP in collaboration with the IDP and ADP faculty Chairs.
