We presented two posters at the 2004
Meeting of the American Educational Research Association (April
12-16 San Diego, CA) along with some fellow CASL grant researchers
in a session entitled "Synergies between Cognitive Psychology
and Educational Research." (see poster session proposal

Cognitive Science 2004
At the Cognitive
Science 2004 conference (August 5-7 in Chicago) we presented a
poster on our research into differentiating the contextual interference
effect (interleaving) from the spacing effect, using foreign language
vocabulary.

Spacing Effect"- Lindsey E. Richland, Jason R. Finley, Robert
A. Bjork - University of California, Los Angeles
Powerpoint presentation used for a UCLA lab meeting on September 29th,
2004. This covers our first two experiments using the WISE system with
undergraduate participants. In the first, we looked at presentation
order (blocked vs. interleaved) and simple generation (read vs. generate);
in the second, we looked at different kinds of more complex generation.

Powerpoint presentation used for a UCLA lab meeting on February 23rd,
2005. Covers our 3rd WISE experiment which investigated the interleaving
effect more closely.

Grant Principal Investigators meeting in Washington D.C., May 17th-18th,
2005 - IDDEASPI051605.ppt
At the 3rd Lake Arrowhead
Conference on Human Complex Systems, from May 18th to May 23rd,
2005, Jason Finley gave a presentation entitled "Desirable Difficulties:
Learning, Teaching, and Collaboratively Bridging." The talk
presented as complex systems both the subject matter of IDDEAS research
and the research process itself. The powerpoint file is available
