Vickie Mays Leads Effort in New Orleans
Vickie Mays leads effort to make mental health care available to New Orleans hurricane victims.
As many of you may have seen, there has been extensive media coverage of the national effort Vickie Mays has led to make mental health care available to New Orleans hurricane victims. Links to Time magazine and Copley News service articles are shown below together with the text of a recent editorial in the LA Times and attached is a more complete description of the project.
Vickie's New Orleans Mental Health and Education Training Project is a truly important initiative and one that has made a difference in the lives of people who have lost so much. It has also, more broadly, brought the mental-health needs of the people of New Orleans to public attention, which increases the chances that mental health care might become part of the rebuilding and recovery effort.
Congratulations Vickie on your leadership of this initiative--and for truly making a difference.
