For the first time at the 2010 UCLA Alumni Day the College Departments and Centers are hosting an open house together, 10:45 am to 12 noon, where the Psychology department will host a section. We invite you to come and meet faculty from Psychology, relive memories, learn our great cutting-edge achievements in research and education, and network with your fellow alumni: http://www.alumniday.ucla.edu/2010/Schedule/OpenHouses.aspx
Our very own Professor Jaana Juvonen will be a guest speaker during Session 1 (9:30 - 10:45 a.m):
Bullies, Victims and Bystanders: Myths and Facts
Bullying affects millions of students, and it’s not limited to the schoolyard. Many teenagers also are bullied online—sometimes with tragic results. But bullying is not only a problem for individual kids. Bystanders also play a critical role in stopping bullying. In this must-see session, we’ll reveal new UCLA research that corrects some misconceptions about bullying that’s important for parents and kids alike.
And since is an open-to-all event, you and your guests can also check other departments and centers and explore the impressive range of disciplines, achievements and research that the UCLA College offers to its alumni and students. And you will also be able to participate in it: observe a physics experiment happening in front of your eyes, receive your own map of the stars over Los Angeles, and watch a display fly-through of a 3D archaeological model.
After the open house Psychology alumni can sit together at lunch, so make sure you rsvp for both the Psychology open house and the lunch: http://www.alumniday.ucla.edu/2010/Schedule/Lunch.aspx
We look forward to seeing you there!
