Psychology Major Application and Directions
The 2013 Psychology Major application is now available. The earliest students are allowed to apply for entry into the major is Summer after their 1st year. The latest students are allowed to apply is during Fall quarter of their 3rd year.
We will officially process your application at the end of the quarter in which you complete all 7 prep courses.
Applications will be reviewed and notifications of acceptance will be sent to students via e-mail approximately 4 weeks after all of the grades for your preparation courses have posted. As an example, students who are applying in mid-July will hear in mid-August.
** If you have completed any pre-psychology preparatory courses at an institution other than UCLA (including a Junior College, UCLA Extension, etc.) it is your responsibility to submit those transcripts to the UCLA Admissions Office so that they may post to your record (DPR) by the application deadline (it can take up to 2-3 months to post).
This application is for students who entered as freshman (not transfer students) and are pursuing the Psychology major. Admission into the major will also be based on a student’s academic performance in the preparation for major courses. Students must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA in the preparatory coursework to be eligible to apply. Students who have a 2.9 or higher preparation for major GPA and have met all other pre-psychology requirements will be guaranteed entry into the major. Students with guaranteed admission are still required to submit an application by the application deadline. Students with a prep GPA ranging between 2.5-2.89 will enter a competitive applicant pool.
