Postdoctoral Opportunity


Applications are sought for a full-time, NIH-funded Postdoctoral position. The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team in the laboratory of Dr. Alicia Izquierdo in the UCLA Department of Psychology (

The focus of the Izquierdo lab is on the neurobiological basis of reward learning and decision making. Projects in the lab run from the basic neuroscience of reinforcement learning to preclinical (translational) models of value-based decision making in drug and alcohol withdrawal. Our lab incorporates novel behavioral, chemogenetic, computational, and in vivo recording/imaging methods to address these questions.

A successful candidate(s) will have the following qualifications:

  • PhD in Neuroscience or Psychology
  • Ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment
  • Desire to conduct cutting-edge behavioral neuroscience research
  • Experience in in vivo electrophysiological recording or calcium imaging is required
  • Experience in computational modeling is highly desirable, but not required
