Melissa DeWolf receives the 2016 Joseph A. Gengerelli Distinguished Dissertation Award

We are proud to announce Dr. Melissa DeWolf (Cognitive Area) as the 2016 recipient of the Joseph A. Gengerelli Distinguished Dissertation Award for her outstanding dissertation. This dissertation award honors Professor Gengerelli. He is remembered and loved for his teaching, guidance of students, innovative research and departmental leadership.

2016 Dena Chertoff Graduate Student Service Award Recipients

We are pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the Dena Chertoff Graduate Student Service Award are Dr. Daisy Camacho-Thompson (Developmental Area) and Dr. Alyssa Cheadle (Health Area). This department award was established in 2009 to honor Dena Chertoff, the Graduate Advisor that served our department for 38 years. This award honors graduate students who have made outstanding contributions to the overall well-being of the students, faculty, and staff in the Psychology Department.

Erin Arruda selected to participate in AERA Institute on Statistical Analysis for Education Policy Program

Congratulations to Erin Arruda (Quantitative Area) for being selected to participate in AERA Institute on Statistical Analysis for Education Policy program. With funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the AERA Grants Program announces its AERA Institute on Statistical Analysis for Education Policy on Using Large-Scale Data to Study Mathematics Education and Outcomes.

Christopher Begeny selected to participate in Collegium of University Teaching Fellows

Congratulations to Christopher Begeny (Social Area) for being selected to participate in the UCLA Collegium of University Teaching Fellows (CUTF) through the Office of Instructional Development. The CUTF program is an innovative program that creates unique learning opportunities for both graduate students and undergraduate students on campus.  Through the program, some of UCLA's very best advanced graduate students have the opportunity to develop and teach a lower division seminar in their field of specialization on a one-time only basis.

Macrina Cooper-White receives the 2016 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship

Congratulations to Macrina Cooper-White (Social Area) for receiving the 2016 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship. The NDSEG Fellowship is a highly competitive, portable fellowship that is awarded to U.S. citizens and nationals who intend to pursue a doctoral in one of the fifteen supported disciplines.

Garrett Blair selected to participate in the Joint Research Institute in Science and Engineering Summer Program

Congratulations to Garrett Blair (BNS Area) for being selected to participate in the Joint Research Institute in Science and Engineering Summer Program by Peking University and UCLA! This ten-week program will allow students to participate in advanced research in science or engineering while gaining valuable international experience during the summer quarter at Peking University.
