Date published: 4/28/2020
Cheryl Polfus Minor, Senior Instructional Services Advisor, has been selected to receive the Psychology Staff Spotlight Award for her amazing work scheduling our courses; assigning TAs, readers, and proctors; and advising our undergraduate students over the course of 39 (!) years of service to UCLA, all in the Department of Psychology. She joined UCLA in 1981, first working in the Main Office and later in Student Services Advising. She met her husband, Professor Tom Minor, here in Psychology. Cheryl has an amazing talent to remember the tiniest of details in order to do her job efficiently and cares deeply about the well-being of the department. She is always willing to stop what’s she’s doing to help you. Favorite phrases of how we describe Cheryl:
- Vault of institutional knowledge
- Pillar of the department
- Glue that holds Psychology together
- Puzzler who sees the big picture and pieces together all the different pieces
Sadly for us but exciting for her, Cheryl will be retiring at the end of June 2020, and she will be sorely missed. She is a truly valued member of our staff and a beloved colleague to all. Congratulations and thank you for your dedicated service, Cheryl!
