Summary of the April 20, 2011 Technology Tips for Faculty session

Psychology Information Technology and the campus Office of Instructional Technology recently offered our first "Fac Tech" session. This event is described as a "speed dating" session for faculty on productivity technology. Presenters from all over the campus had 10 minutes each to explain what a particular productivity tool could do, gave a brief demo, and showed participants how to get started.

Faculty members picked a tool to learn about, gathered around that "booth", saw the demo for 10 minutes, and then went on to another product demo. Attendees also received a FREE UCLA Faculty USB drive loaded with guides for each resource demonstrated at the event. Light refreshments were also served.

Some of the tools displayed were:

  • Doodle
  • Elluminate
  • Google Docs
  • Skype
  • Dropbox
  • LearnIT
  • UCLA Mobile
  • SurveyMonkey
  • CCLE/Moodle
  • iPad

Each session is customized to departmental needs. We'd like to offer a similar session in the fall. Please contact Dawn Canfield for more information, or to give your suggestions on technologies to feature.
