Description of Organization and Population Served: 
AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) is a private, non-profit, community based organization that exists to ensure the dignity and self respect of people with HIV/AIDS, through the provision of vital human support services to people with AIDS and their loved ones. The Client Services Clientline is a direct telephone line to a team of Case Managers who provide assistance to self-sufficient clients, their caregivers and family members. Clients receive referrals to programs and services throughout Los Angeles County.
Description of Fieldwork Project and Responsibilities of Intern: 
Interns will serve as Case Managers, Housing Specialist and Benefits Specialist. In addition to monitor the Clientline to help clients implement and develop an appropriate plan aimed toward meeting their individual needs, to respond to client inquiries and contact clients as necessary, to assess client situations and make appropriate referrals, to maintain client records and complete data entry, to assist in preparing outreach materials, and to participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings.
Special Qualifications: 
Two-quarter commitment preferred. Ability to interview & assess client needs, respond effectively to crisis & stressful situations, communicate effectively with a diverse population.
Hourly Commitment Per Week: 
6 hours
