Radiance House

Dario Nardi
Address:
1220 N Poinsettia Place; West Hollywood, CA 90046
Phone:
310 880 6664
Description of Organization and Population Served:
Radiance House is a Human Resources company. We do publishing, training, and research. The population served is primarily psychologists, HR professionals (counselors, coaches, trainers, etc), and similar individuals and groups seeking greater understanding about themselves and others. Most relevant to academic fieldwork, we use EEG technology to explore facets of human psychology. EEG reveals local, global, and networked patterns of activity in the neocortex. Typically, participants try a standardized protocol of tasks (math, music, visual-spatial problems, storytelling, etc). Alternatively, participants might engage in a single broad activity such as media consumption, game playing, or team problem solving. A software package analyzes the raw data and reveals potential links to favorite activities, cognitive skills, emotional dynamics, personality traits, and behavior. We do *not* offer medical diagnosis or treatment. Rather, the results offer implications for skill building, coaching, communication, leadership, problem solving, education, and other application areas. Professionals often find this information useful for themselves and the populations that they serve.
Description of Fieldwork Project and Responsibilities of Intern:
Interns are responsible for assisting with EEG sessions and/or conducting data analysis, a literature search, and interviews with participants. An intern will learn about and demonstrate skill using EEG technology in an ethical, informed, and empowering way, with a focus on best practices for practical non-medical applications. Facets of competence include some or all of the following, typically in this order: 1) brain basics (mainly, neocortex structure and function) 2) EEG technology (limits, strengths, and methods of use) 3) administering protocols with clients 4) using software to analyze EEG data for individuals 5) compiling reports 6) interpreting reports 7) interpreting the EEG literature 8) forming and testing research hypothesis 9) working within the larger community of practitioners 10) maintaining professional standards

Brain imaging is a modern, often powerful tool to help understand what is occurring in a person's mental life, especially when debriefing occurs after tasks. Recent advances in how to analyze brain imaging data, such as computation of likely neutral networks and their typical functions, also grants a window into the mind's patterns and processes.

VNTANA

Contact:
Natascha French
Address:
7039 Hayvenhurst Ave, Van Nuys, CA 91406
Phone:
323.892.2908
Description of Organization and Population Served:
VNTANA is an Augmented Reality computing platform designed to help companies create engaging experiences, generate leads, and convert sales by tracking data to quantify engagement. VNTANA’s patented, scalable hologram platform is the only system on the market that allows consumers to interact with holograms of their favorite athlete, celebrity or product while capturing real-time data on the consumers. Augmented Reality (AR) is already changing every industry from manufacturing to education to advertising to communication. However, there is a steep cost and learning curve to create new AR/VR experiences, no reliable metrics, and no integration with existing software tools. VNTANA’s platform allows you to easily create interactive mixed reality experiences for our own holographic hardware as well as other AR/VR devices with built in data collection and APIs to easily sync with existing software tools such as CRMs. It is currently being used in multiple industries, including advertising, retail, business communications, sports, automotive, manufacturing and education, however our turnkey solution and innovation lies in hologram advertising. VNTANA’s patented, real-time holographic video capture with interactive gesture control, allows consumers to have an augmented reality experience without wearables – everyone in the room can see and interact with the hologram together. Using VNTANA’s technology, brands can track valuable consumer data, including but not limited to: age, gender, social shares, product preferences, and even buying habits. The platform’s facial recognition API allows VNTANA to track user’s age, gender and sentiment passively while they interact. VNTANA’s CRM API can seamlessly sync this data along with their name and email directly with a client’s CRM system, increasing leads and ROI. VNTANA’s Artificial Intelligence API allows clients to connect with existing chat bots and make them the “brain” of the hologram. For example, Macy’s website chatbot can be directly connected to the hologram, allowing a customer in-store to ask the hologram all the same questions they can ask on the website while tracking data to improve consumer experience. It can even sync with a brand’s inventory management system and e-commerce site, seamlessly connecting the online and offline experience for a frictionless retail experience. For example, a guest can ask the hologram “Do you have this sweater in a size small,” the hologram can immediately see the store is out and offer to purchase through the e-commerce site instead. In addition to deep data, brands receive the benefit of branded user-generated content (UGC) on social. VNTANA’s social media integration automatically emails customers a GIF or video of their AR experience to share online for maximum UGC. For example, fans at multiple stadiums could see their hologram LIVE next to a hologram Lexus LC. With a swipe of their hand they could choose the color and other features which changed live. Fans immediately received a branded email with a video of their experience to share on social. VNTANA’s backend collects the name, age, gender, email address, zip code, & product preferences of every fan that participated in the experience while also using social listening to track views, shares, likes, retweets & comments on social media posts. Lexus has seen qualified leads more than double compared to previous fan experiences. Clients include Nike, Adidas, Vayner Media, Disney, NBC, ABC, Universal, Hourglass Cosmetics, NYX Cosmetics, Marvel, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Team-One, Microsoft, Intel, Dell, Clorox, a top five accounting firm, a national bank (NDAs prevent us from naming), Pepsi, NFL, Bacardi, AT&T, Cisco and more.
Description of Fieldwork Project and Responsibilities of Intern:

How does this relate to Cognitive Science?:
As society embarks on a cognitive revolution in which the digital world and the physical world inevitably converge, technology will be become key to augmenting the cognitive potential of humans. This revolution can only be driven by an aggregate force of various technologies, some of which VNTANA has already been harnessing to create holographic platforms for brands to engage their customers. By creating an environment for humans to interact with the corporeal and digital worlds simultaneously, augmented reality could help us discover new cognitive insights that can be applicable in a variety of fields and industries.
