Additional Course Fees for the ADP Internship

Students enrolled in Psychology 134A/D, 134B/E and 134C will be placed at a childcare program which is licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services. State law requires that all licensed facilities make the following background checks for all personnel having contact with children. All background checks must be submitted before employment begins or initial presence in the facility is permitted.

ADP internship sites require a particular Livescan electronic fingerprint process utilized by both the California Department of Social Services and the CA Department of Justice. This procedure can be completed at the UCLA Police station following admission to ADP and assignment to an internship site. The approximate cost is $74.

In addition, the Department of Social Services requires an up-to-date health screening, immunizations and TB-test for all personnel having contact with children. The health screening can be performed by your personal physician or by UCLA Student Health Services. The health screening and immunization updates (including with the current inflluenza vaccination) must be completed before employment begins or initial presence in the facility is permitted. Costs vary.

All students must also complete adult and infant CPR and First Aid certification before beginning their ADP internship. ADP provides access to low-cost, convenient training for $45.

Please note: There are no exceptions to the background check, health screening, immunizations or CPR/First Aid requirements. Students will be notified if their background checks and/or health screening results disqualify them from participation.

Finally, students are required to purchase course readers for both 134A and 134B courses, at a cost of approximately $40-45 each.
