Psychotherapy & Counseling
At the UCLA Psychology Clinic, we provide individualized, scientifically supported therapy. Our clients' concerns commonly include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, relationship and family problems, school problems, parenting difficulties, divorce and separation adjustment, career and personal decisions, childhood abuse, bereavement, and life transitions.
We provide the following psychotherapy and counseling services:
- Adult Individual Therapy
One-on-one therapy with clients of all ages to help resolve life concerns, treat mental health conditions, and improve quality of life. Following the initial intake appointment, your clinician will suggest a therapy approach that is matched to your treatment goals and based on the best available research on therapy effectiveness. Our treatment approaches include cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, time-limited dynamic therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, interpersonal therapy, exposure and other behavioral therapies, and motivational interviewing.
- Child and Adolescent Therapy
Therapy aimed at helping children and their parents resolve conflicts, improve school performance, reduce depression and anxiety, and build better friendships. Therapy may involve meeting as a family, or individual meetings with parents and/or children. All child therapy is based on an evidence-based practices demonstrated to be effective for helping children and families.

- Parent Counseling
Counseling for parents to learn valuable parenting and communication skills for use with their children.
- Couples Therapy
Therapy aimed at helping couples resolve conflicts, learn effective communication skills, and develop fulfilling relationships.
- Group Therapy for Adults and Children
Group-based treatments that can be a useful supplement to therapy received in our Clinic or elsewhere. We offer a Dialectical Behavior Therapy group for adults with difficulties in their emotions or relationships and a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Group for adults with depression and anxiety. We also offer a social skills Friendship Training group for children in elementary and middle school.
The first step in the process is to call us to complete a brief screening and set up an initial intake meeting. Clients needs are assessed during an initial intake meeting to match clients to counselors with specialized skills. We do not provide crisis or walk-in services.
Fees paid by clients are based on a sliding scale according to monthly gross income and number of dependents. Fees range from $30 - $150 an hour. Group therapy fees range from $5 to $10 per session. Current UCLA students, faculty, and staff receive a 10% discount on therapy services. We accept cash, debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, & Discover) as forms of payment. We do not accept checks as a form of payment.
Appointments are available during daytime and evening hours, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
