Psychology Staff Spotlight Award – Amari Metcalfe

We are happy to announce that Amari Metcalfe has been selected to receive the Psychology Staff Spotlight Award. Amari first joined IDP as a student in Spring 2023. Since then, she officially joined the team as a full-time floater teacher and, most recently, transitioned into a primary teacher role. Throughout her time at IDP, Amari has distinguished herself as an incredibly dedicated teacher and mentor who takes tremendous pride in the program, the classroom environment, and, most importantly, the children in her care.

Amari consistently takes initiative and looks for ways to make IDP better. Since becoming a full-time teacher, she has brought so many creative and fun additions to the classrooms. She created a teacher display, coordinated a new photo display of the children for the hallway, completely organized our classroom books and developed a system for maintaining the IDP library. She also helped organize “the Nest,” a special space where our oldest toddlers can engage in curriculum and activities specifically designed for their developmental stage.

We cannot recognize Amari without mentioning Pizza Friday! Amari introduced Pizza Friday T-shirts to IDP, and they have quickly become a program favorite! On any given Friday, you will see staff, children, students, and parents proudly wearing the T-shirts Amari designed. It is a small but wonderful example of the sense of fun and community she brings to IDP.

Amari is known as the “fun teacher” in the classroom, and for good reason. She makes the children laugh, brings enthusiasm and creativity to their days, and works incredibly hard behind the scenes to make the classroom the best it can be. Her initiative and genuine care for the IDP community are evident in everything she does.

Thank you, Amari, for all that you do!
