Although we are unable to hold our usual commencement activities this year, all graduates will be invited to join our Hooding Ceremony next year. Sixteen candidates are being honored in the 2020 Psychology Virtual Celebration in formal recognition of their distinguished achievements and their contributions to the field of psychology.

With sadness, the Department of Psychology at UCLA reports that Morton P. Friedman, a key figure in this Department’s emergence to national prominence, passed away during Fall 2019.
Bertram H. Raven (1926-2020)
With sadness, the Department of Psychology at UCLA reports the passing of one of its pioneering members, Professor Emeritus Bertram H. Raven, on February 26, 2020. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, including his beloved wife Celia and his children, Michelle and Jonathan, and grandchildren.

Highlighting Faculty Member: Benjamin Karney
Dr. Benjamin Karney’s research examines how intimate relationships succeed and fail. Specifically, his work emphasizes how forces external to couples and beyond their control (like stress and socioeconomic status) affect processes within the couple (like communication and satisfaction).
UCLA Psychology Department receives $30 million from Anthony & Jeanne Pritzker Family Foundation
UCLA has received a $30 million commitment from the Anthony and Jeanne Pritzker Family Foundation to support a major renovation of the Psychology Tower on the UCLA campus. In recognition of the gift, the building has been named Pritzker Hall.
