Hybrid Advising: The Psychology Advising Office will offer both Zoom and in-person advising for Summer 2026. Please see the drop-in advising schedule for Summer 2026 below.
Major and pre-major declarations will be paused starting Friday, June 5th. Major and pre-major declarations without an application will re-open Monday, July 6th, and major declarations that require an application (Freshman admits in Psychology or Cognitive Science) will have applications open on Monday, July 13th.
Psychology Advising Services
Psychology Department Advisors are available to support current UCLA undergraduates through in-person drop-in advising hours. Our office is located in 1530 Pritzker Hall, and is open from 9:00-11:00am and 1:00-4:00pm, Monday-Thursday for general inquiries. Note our drop-in hours for Summer 2026 below. Hours may vary due to staff trainings, events, and holidays. Please check this webpage for updates to our drop-in hours. Psychology Advising staff work remotely on Fridays.

Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (In-Person Advising at 1530 Pritzker Hall)
Wednesday: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (In-Person Advising at 1530 Pritzker Hall)
Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (Zoom Advising)

Drop-In Advising Instructions
When you arrive for drop-in advising, intake staff will record your questions and place you on the waitlist to see an advisor. Wait times vary, and arriving early during drop-in advising shifts increases your chances of a shorter wait. Please be aware that during busy times, like enrollment, drop-in appointments fill up quickly, and you may need to return the next day due to high demand.

- Questions about departmental fieldwork/research opportunities
Message Center Instructions
Please contact an advisor via Message Center on MyUCLA 🔗 for assistance with:
- Declaring pre-majors/majors within the Psychology department
- Course substitution petitions
- Double major petitions
- Degree plan contracts
- Course contract submissions
- Any other forms that require an advisor’s signature
*Responses to inquiries sent via Message Center may take up to 7 business days.
Discussion Sections
The Department of Psychology does not facilitate discussion section switches for Psychology courses. Students are responsible for monitoring available sections and using the MyUCLA “Exchange” feature if they wish to change sections. If you are unable to attend your enrolled section, you will need to adjust your enrollment accordingly.
