Congratulations to Distinguished Prof. Vickie Mays, who will receive the 2020 Carl Taube Award for Lifetime Contribution to the Field of Mental Health from the American Public Health Association. Created in 1990, the award annually recognizes one scholar who has made important lifetime contributions to public mental health, and it is one of the highest honors in the field.

With sadness, the Department of Psychology at UCLA reports the passing of one of its pioneering members, Professor Emeritus Bertram H. Raven, on February 26, 2020. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, including his beloved wife Celia and his children, Michelle and Jonathan, and grandchildren.

Research by Professor Jesse Rissman Receives Media Attention
A study by UCLA researchers, including Prof. Jesse Rissman, published in the Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, is being prominently featured on UCLA’s home page and the UCLA Newsroom. The researchers showed that they could enhance people’s ability to retrieve episodic memories by applying a weak electrical current over the anterior prefrontal cortex, demonstrating the important role of this region in memory recall.
